OPERATION COMPASSION FROM THE HOMEFRONT

Dear Members, Parents, Youth and Kids,

We are joining together with the Salvation Army to send care packages to the Indiana National Guard and Reserve soldiers that are deployed overseas. We are enlisting everyone to assist in bringing in items and writing letters or cards to our soldiers. Here are a few guidelines and suggestions that will help in this effort.

Items Needed For Military Care Packages:

sun block              medicated powder              tooth paste              tooth brushes             dental floss            deodorant (Non aerosol)         Q-tips             

toilet paper           body lotion           antibacterial hand soap or wipes            lip balm            shampoo            razors        ink pens        note cards   

card games         puzzle books (word search, crossword puzzles, etc)            travel size games          letters of encouragement from children

SPECIAL NOTE: FOOD ITEMS ARE NOT ALLOWED

GUIDELINES FOR LETTERS TO OUR SOLDIERS

• A friendly message that we are thinking about them overseas

• Thank you for your sacrifices, come home safely

• Any patriotic message is fine

• Use only first name

• No home address

• Use plenty of color if it's a picture

• Don't use the word "Hero"

• Use only a return address of your church or school

• You don't have to fold the letters

This project is ongoing.

We will have a container in the foyer for you to drop off any items you bring.
